What is Line on Travel?
Your line on travel for independent women – just off the beaten path
Line on Travel got started when some friends asked me to share something about the places I go, especially those that are a little bit unusual or just off the beaten path. Then, people I met along the way who were surprised that I travel alone asked for more. So, Line on Travel got started with simple goals:
- Share with you some of the places I go
- Write about some favorites that might not be on everybody’s itinerary
- Describe activities that I think anyone of a “certain age” can do
- Share some travel techniques that work for me
What Line on Travel is Not
This isn’t an all-purpose travel site – it’s not a travel agency, and I’m not a travel agent.
It’s not sponsored by any of the products and companies I mention – I get no income from that. If I ever do, I will tell you.
Line on Travel doesn’t intend to cover the globe. I’m not checking places off a list or trying to go everywhere. I do have to stay home and clean the house now and then.
Here are a few lines from some famous travelers
“Camps, villages, towns, cities! Here today, up and off to somewhere else tomorrow! Travel, change, interest, excitement! The whole world before you and a horizon that’s always changing!” – Mr. Toad – The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame
Did you ever read Wind in the Willows? Or Disney’s The Adventures of Mr. Toad? Toad was pretty irresponsible about traveling and transportation. I try not to be.
“Traveling is like flirting with life. It’s like saying, ‘I would stay and love you, but I have to go; this is my station.” – Lisa St. Aubin de Terán –
That’s drama! I like to imagine myself – train pulling away, nighttime on the platform, misty, silent, a single yellow light over the locked station door – yes, yes, yes! My life isn’t like that but traveling helps me imagine.
“Am I ever going to find my way out of this x@#* airport?” – Carolyn –
The answer is: eventually.
